Becoming: An 8 Session Postpartum Therapy Program
Structured therapy for moms who want a clear plan, meaningful progress, and a defined path forward.
Maybe you don't need therapy forever.
Maybe you just know that something isn't feeling right.
You're overwhelmed more often than you'd like to admit. You're constantly worried about your baby—or worried that you're not doing motherhood “right.” You feel irritable or angry, even though you love your family. You're exhausted from trying to keep everything together, and you can't remember the last time you felt like yourself.
Maybe you've been to therapy before, but it felt like endless talking without a clear direction.
Or maybe you've never been to therapy at all and aren't sure what you're supposed to expect.
You want someone who understands postpartum mental health, but you also want a plan.
That's why I created Becoming: An 8-Session Postpartum Therapy Program.
Becoming is structured, goal-oriented postpartum therapy designed to help you understand what's happening, identify what is keeping you stuck, develop practical tools, and make meaningful changes—with a clear beginning, middle, and end.
8 sessions. Clear goals. Evidence-based treatment. A defined path forward.
You Don't Have to Be Falling Apart to Need Support
Postpartum mental health challenges don't always look like a crisis.
You may still be working, taking care of your baby, managing your household, answering texts, making appointments, and getting everyone where they need to go.
From the outside, you may look like you're doing just fine.
But inside, you might be thinking:
Why am I so overwhelmed all the time?
Why am I so angry?
Why does everyone else seem to be doing motherhood better than I am?
Why can't I stop worrying?
Why don't I enjoy this the way I thought I would?
Why do I feel like I've disappeared?
Why can't I just handle this?
I love my baby, so why am I struggling this much?
You don't have to wait until things become unbearable before getting help.
Postpartum therapy can help you understand what you're experiencing and begin making changes before you feel completely depleted.
What Is the Becoming Program?
Becoming is an 8-session postpartum therapy program for moms who want focused, individualized support rather than open-ended therapy without a clear direction.
We'll begin by identifying what's bringing you to therapy, what you want to change, and what meaningful progress would look like for you.
From there, we'll create your personalized Postpartum Pathway—a treatment plan that guides our work together.
Rather than simply talking about what's difficult, we'll work toward specific goals and use evidence-based therapeutic approaches that fit your needs.
At the end of the eight sessions, we'll intentionally review your progress and determine what comes next.
You may feel ready to end therapy.
You may benefit from a few additional sessions.
Or you may decide that ongoing therapy would be helpful.
The goal isn't to rush you out of therapy. The goal is to make sure you know where you're going and why.
Every mom's experience is different, so your treatment will be individualized. But, the Becoming program follows a clear framework.
1. Understand
We'll begin by understanding your current symptoms, stressors, postpartum experience, strengths, and goals.
You'll gain a clearer picture of what's happening—and why you may be feeling the way you do.
2. Identify
We'll identify the thoughts, behaviors, emotional patterns, relationships, and expectations that may be contributing to your distress.
This might include anxiety, perfectionism, avoidance, people-pleasing, guilt, resentment, comparison, or feeling responsible for everything.
3. Practice
We'll introduce practical, evidence-based strategies that you can use outside of therapy—not just concepts that make sense while you're sitting in the therapy session.
4. Apply
We'll work on applying those strategies to your actual life as a mother.
That might mean changing how you respond to worry, communicating differently with your partner, setting boundaries, making space for your own needs, or challenging the expectations you've placed on yourself.
5. Grow
We'll strengthen your confidence and help you develop a more sustainable way of navigating motherhood.
6. Move Forward
We'll review your progress, identify the changes you've made, and create a plan for maintaining them after treatment.
Your Postpartum Pathway
What Can We Work On?
Becoming isn't a one-size-fits-all program. Your treatment will be based on your specific symptoms and goals.
Depending on what you're experiencing, we may work on:
-
Postpartum Anxiety & Constant Worry
You can't turn your mind off. You're always anticipating what could go wrong, second-guessing yourself, or feeling like you need to stay one step ahead of every possible problem. We'll work on understanding the anxiety cycle and developing healthier ways to respond to worry and uncertainty.
-
Postpartum Depression & Feeling Disconnected
You may feel sad, numb, exhausted, unmotivated, or unlike yourself. You may love your baby but still feel disconnected from motherhood—or wonder why you're not happier.
Treatment can focus on mood, motivation, behavioral patterns, connection, self-compassion, and the factors contributing to depression.
-
Postpartum Rage & Irritability
You may be surprised by how angry you feel.Small things can suddenly feel enormous. You may snap at your partner, feel touched-out and overstimulated, or find yourself carrying resentment that you don't know how to express.
We'll look beneath the anger to understand what's contributing to it and work on healthier ways to recognize, communicate, and respond to your needs.
-
Mom Guilt & Perfectionism
You feel like you're never doing enough. You compare yourself to other moms. You worry that you're making the wrong choices. You believe you should be able to handle more.
We'll work on the expectations and thought patterns that leave you feeling like you're constantly falling short.
-
Overwhelm & the Mental Load
You're responsible for remembering everything.
Appointments. Feeding. Sleep. Work. Meals. Laundry. Childcare. Everyone else's needs.
We'll identify what's contributing to the overwhelm and work toward more sustainable ways of managing responsibilities, expectations, and support.
-
Identity & the Transition to Motherhood
You may love being a mom and still miss who you were before becoming one.
Motherhood can change your relationships, priorities, body, career, independence, and sense of identity.
Therapy can provide space to explore who you're becoming while reconnecting with the parts of yourself that still matter.
-
Relationships & Communication
Your relationship may feel different since having a baby.
You may feel unsupported, resentful, disconnected, or unsure how to communicate what you actually need.
We'll work on communication, boundaries, asking for support, and navigating the relationship changes that can accompany becoming parents.
Evidence-Based Therapy, Personalized to You
You shouldn't have to wonder what we're actually doing in therapy.
Becoming uses evidence-based therapeutic approaches selected based on your symptoms, goals, and individual needs.
Depending on what you're experiencing, treatment may incorporate approaches such as:
What Does 8 Sessions Actually Look Like?
Session 1: Assessment & Goals
We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, what's been difficult, and what you want to be different.
We'll establish your treatment goals and create a clear starting point.
Sessions 2–3: Understanding Your Patterns
We'll begin identifying the patterns contributing to your distress and develop a deeper understanding of what's happening emotionally and behaviorally.
Sessions 4–6: Focused Treatment & Practice
We'll actively work on your treatment goals and practice strategies you can apply between sessions.
The focus will depend on what you need most.
Session 7: Strengthening Progress
We'll evaluate what's changing, what still feels difficult, and what you need to continue building confidence and making progress.
Session 8: Review & Moving Forward
We'll review your goals, recognize your progress, identify what you've learned, and create a plan for what comes next.
And if you need additional therapy after the eight sessions, we'll talk about that together.
Eight sessions is the structure—not an arbitrary deadline.
What Makes Becoming Different From Traditional Talk Therapy?
Traditional therapy can sometimes feel open-ended:
“Come in next week and we'll see what comes up.”
That approach works well for some people.
But if you're a mom who wants to know:
What are we working on?
What am I supposed to do between sessions?
How will I know if I'm getting better?
How long is this going to take?
When will we know we're done?
You may prefer a more structured approach.
Becoming gives you a framework for answering those questions.
We'll establish goals, monitor progress, actively work toward those goals, and intentionally evaluate treatment at the end.
Becoming may be a good fit if:
You're pregnant or postpartum and struggling emotionally.
You're experiencing symptoms of postpartum anxiety or depression.
You're overwhelmed, irritable, or experiencing postpartum rage.
You're struggling with mom guilt or perfectionism.
You feel disconnected from yourself after becoming a mother.
You're having difficulty adjusting to your new role or identity.
Your relationships have changed since having a baby.
You want practical tools—not just a place to vent.
You've tried traditional talk therapy and wanted more structure.
You've never been to therapy and want to know what to expect.
You want focused treatment with clear goals and a defined ending.
Becoming is not designed to replace specialized treatment when a higher level of care or a different treatment approach is clinically indicated.
If you're experiencing intrusive thoughts or compulsive behaviors that may be related to postpartum OCD, I offer specialized perinatal OCD treatment using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). We'll discuss whether Becoming or specialized OCD treatment is the better fit during your consultation.
Who is Becoming For?
A Therapy Program Designed Around the Reality of Motherhood
You don't need another thing on your to-do list.
You need support that makes sense for the season you're actually in.
That means therapy that understands that you may be joining a session with a baby nearby, that your sleep may be unpredictable, and that you don't have hours to spend analyzing every detail of your life.
It also means therapy that respects your time.
Becoming is designed to give you focused support without requiring an indefinite commitment to therapy.
How Much Does the Becoming Program Cost?
$225 per 50-minute session
The Becoming program consists of eight individual therapy sessions, for a total investment of $1800 if all eight sessions are completed.
Sessions are typically scheduled weekly or biweekly depending on your needs and treatment plan.
At the end of the eight sessions, we'll review your progress and determine whether you've met your goals, would benefit from additional sessions, or would be better served by another level or type of care.
