Hartman Therapy—Postpartum Group Therapy for Moms
You don't have to figure it all out on your own.
Motherhood has a way of turning your world upside down. Even when you love being a mom, you might find yourself wondering where you went in the middle of caring for everyone else.
Maybe you're overwhelmed by the constant mental load, struggling with mom guilt, or feeling frustrated that you can't seem to manage everything the way you used to.
Maybe you miss parts of your old life, feel disconnected from yourself, or wonder why something that seems to come naturally to other moms feels so hard for you.
And sometimes, you just want to talk to someone who gets it. Someone who understands that you can be incredibly grateful for your baby and still struggle with the reality of motherhood.
Hartman Therapy's postpartum group therapy program is an eight-week experience for moms in the first two years postpartum who want to feel more confident, develop practical coping skills, and connect with other women navigating this season of life.
Start by completing the interest form. You'll have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss whether the group is a good fit during your complimentary 30-minute intake call.
8 weekly sessions · Beginning January 2027 · Small group experience · $75 per session or $600 upfront
Maybe you thought you'd feel more like yourself by now.
The newborn days may be behind you, but that doesn't necessarily mean you've found your footing.
Maybe you're back at work, trying to balance meetings and deadlines with daycare drop-offs, sleepless nights, and the never-ending list of things that need to get done. Or perhaps you're home with your baby, wondering how everyone else seems to manage when you can barely find time to shower.
You might notice that you're more anxious, irritable, or on edge more than you used to be. You may find yourself snapping at your partner, feeling guilty when you need a break, or struggling to ask for help because it feels easier to do everything yourself.
And even when you get a moment to yourself, it can be hard to relax. Your mind is already thinking about what needs to happen next.
You might love your baby more than you ever imagined and still miss the freedom, confidence, and sense of self you had before becoming a mom.
None of this means you're doing motherhood wrong.
You're adjusting to a major life transition, and you deserve support, too. You don't have to wait until you're completely overwhelmed to make space for yourself.
What if you didn't have to do this alone?
There's something powerful about being able to say what you're really thinking and realizing you're not the only one.
To talk about the guilt you feel when you need a break. To admit that you're having a hard time without feeling like you need to immediately explain how grateful you are. To hear another mom describe something you've been struggling to put into words and think, Wait, you feel that way, too?
Group therapy gives you the opportunity to experience that kind of connection while working toward meaningful change.
This isn't about comparing babies, sharing sleep schedules, or trying to figure out who has motherhood more together. It's about having a place where you can show up as yourself, talk honestly about what you're experiencing, and learn alongside other moms who are figuring things out, too.
And beyond feeling less alone, you'll have the opportunity to understand yourself better, build confidence, and develop skills you can use long after the group ends.
What is postpartum group therapy?
More than a moms' group: 8 weeks dedicated to you
This is a therapist-led, eight-session postpartum therapy group that combines guided discussions, shared experiences, personal reflection, and practical skill-building.
Each week will focus on a different area of emotional well-being and the transition into motherhood. You'll have opportunities to explore what's been difficult, hear other moms' perspectives, practice new ways of responding to everyday challenges, and identify changes you want to make in your own life.
We'll work on things like managing overwhelm, navigating mom guilt, understanding emotional triggers, communicating your needs, and making room for who you are beyond motherhood.
The goal isn't to become a perfect mom. It's to feel more confident being the mom you already are.
What we’ll work on together
What makes group therapy different?
One of the unique parts of group therapy is that you're not just learning from a therapist. You're also learning from each other.
You might come into a session feeling like you're the only one who struggles to ask for help, only to hear another mom describe the exact same pattern. You might learn a new way of approaching a situation by listening to someone else's experience. You might even recognize a strength in another mom that helps you see something differently about yourself.
Over time, the group becomes a place to practice being honest, expressing your needs, receiving feedback, and connecting with others without feeling like you have to have everything together.
What you can take away from the experience
A sense of connection. Feel less alone in your experience of early motherhood and build relationships with other moms who understand how complicated this season can be.
Practical coping skills. Develop tools for managing overwhelm, responding to emotional triggers, and navigating the everyday stressors of motherhood.
More confidence in yourself. Begin trusting your judgment, recognizing your needs, and letting go of the expectation that you have to get everything right.
A better understanding of your patterns. Notice how perfectionism, self-criticism, or difficulty asking for help may be affecting your well-being and relationships.
Stronger communication and boundaries. Practice expressing what you need, navigating difficult conversations, and allowing others to support you.
Space to focus on yourself. Give yourself dedicated time to reflect, process, and work on your own well-being, rather than spending every moment focused on everyone else.
You won't leave with every challenge solved, and that's okay. The goal is to leave with greater self-understanding, useful skills, and a clearer sense of how to keep moving forward.
Is group therapy right for you?
This group is designed for moms who are within the first two years postpartum and want support navigating the emotional and relational changes of early motherhood.
You might be a good fit if:
You love your baby but sometimes struggle with how much your life has changed.
You feel overwhelmed by the mental load of motherhood and find it hard to slow down.
You put a lot of pressure on yourself to do things right and feel guilty when you fall short of your own expectations.
You want to feel more like yourself again but aren't quite sure what that looks like.
You find it difficult to ask for help, set boundaries, or communicate your needs.
You want to feel more confident managing stress and navigating difficult emotions.
You miss connecting with other adults in a meaningful way and want a place where you can be honest about your experience.
You're open to reflecting on your experiences, hearing different perspectives, and practicing new skills.
You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from group therapy. You don't need to have a clear idea of what you want to change, either. Sometimes, knowing that something feels harder than you expected is a good place to start.
The group may not be the right level of support for everyone. That's why each prospective member will have a 30-minute intake call to discuss their needs, goals, and whether this group is an appropriate fit.
How does group therapy compare with individual therapy?
Both group and individual therapy can help you navigate the challenges of postpartum life, but they offer different experiences.
Individual therapy
A space focused entirely on you.
Individual therapy allows you to explore your personal history, symptoms, relationships, and goals in greater depth with your therapist.
Sessions are tailored to your needs, and the work can move at a pace that makes sense for you.
Individual therapy may be a better fit if you're experiencing significant postpartum anxiety or depression, struggling with intrusive thoughts or postpartum OCD, or need more individualized support for specific concerns.
Group therapy
A space to work on yourself alongside other moms.
Group therapy offers something individual therapy can't fully replicate: the experience of connecting with other people who are working through similar challenges.
You'll have opportunities to share your experiences, learn from other moms, practice communication skills, and explore interpersonal patterns in a therapeutic setting. Alongside that connection, you'll work on practical strategies for managing emotions, navigating relationships, and building confidence.
Group therapy is not simply a less expensive alternative to individual therapy. It offers a different kind of support, with a focus on both personal growth and learning through relationships.
Can I participate in both?
Yes. Group therapy can complement individual therapy, depending on your needs and treatment goals. Some moms appreciate having individual sessions to explore personal concerns in depth while using group therapy to practice skills and connect with others.
We'll discuss whether group participation is appropriate for you during the intake process.
What to expect when you join
I want you to know what you're signing up for before you commit.
A 30-minute intake call
Before joining, you'll have a complimentary intake call to discuss what you're looking for, ask questions, and determine whether the group is a good fit.
Eight weekly sessions
You'll join a consistent group of moms for eight weeks, allowing time to build familiarity, develop trust, and work through the topics together.
Structured topics and open discussion
Each week will include a therapeutic focus, with room to process your experiences, hear other perspectives, and practice new skills.
A commitment to the group
Because connection and trust develop over time, this is a closed, eight-session experience rather than a drop-in group. Members are expected to commit to the full series and participate in ways that support a respectful, collaborative environment.
Confidentiality and respect
Group members will be asked to respect one another's privacy and agree to group confidentiality expectations. We'll review these expectations before the group begins.
A little about me
Hi, I'm Alison Hartman, a licensed marriage and family therapist in Texas and Colorado and the founder of Hartman Therapy. I've been working with clients since 2013, and my work focuses on supporting moms through pregnancy, postpartum, and the transition into motherhood.
I know how much pressure moms can put on themselves to do everything well, often leaving very little room for their own needs.
My approach is warm, compassionate, and practical. I want you to feel understood while also helping you develop tools you can actually use in your everyday life.
Too many times I have heard that moms feel alone and wish they had community. I'm excited to bring moms together for this group because I believe there's something meaningful about realizing you're not the only one figuring things out as you go.
You deserve a space where you can be honest about your experience, learn alongside other moms, and make room for yourself in this season, too.

We’ll discuss what brings you to group therapy, what you hope to work on, your current support needs, and whether the group is an appropriate fit. You will also have time to ask questions about the format and expectations.

No, group availability depends on where the therapist is authorized to practice. I am only licensed in Texas and Colorado. Please indicate your state on the interest form so eligibility can be confirmed.

Ready to explore group therapy?
You deserve support in this season, too.
You spend so much time thinking about what everyone else needs. Maybe it's time to give yourself a little of that attention.
You don't have to wait until you feel completely overwhelmed. You don't have to have the perfect words to explain what you're going through. And you don't have to navigate every change of early motherhood on your own.
Let's make a little room for you, too.
If you're ready to explore whether postpartum group therapy might be a good fit, I'd love for you to start by completing the interest form.
